The four weeks that we had planned to spend in Chiriquí passed quickly. As we moved into April, afternoon thundershowers became more frequent and harder, indicating that the dry season, the best time to preserve study skins of birds and mammals, was over. We packed up all of our gear on 10 April and drove thirteen hours back to the Canal Zone the next day, Easter Sunday. After repacking all of our specimens for air shipment to Washington, Frank and I said a friendly good-bye and went our separate ways.
