Peskin received his doctorate in physics from Cornell University and has held research appointments in theoretical physics at Harvard, Cornell, and CEN Saclay. Particles are either so-called real particles, also known as fermions, or they are force particles, also known as bosons. Just as the traditional axiom of measurement says that measurements of observables (quantities that commute with the Hamiltonian) can only yield eigenvalues, information physics accepts that the quantities of information added correspond to these eigenvalues.

We are being asked to simply re-cognize that this is the actual nature of our situation. For example, the elementary quantum model of the hydrogen atom describes the electric field of the hydrogen atom using a classical Coulomb potential. This is of course precisely what you get with bullets, so if we get the same result with photons we can say they are particles. I like to think the moon is there even if I am not looking at it. An example of a wave function for a single atom is one that describes an atom that has absorbed some energy.

If the electron starts at n and ends up at n, then it has not really gone anywhere, so it did not gain energy and it did not lose energy. The force ceases when elements of the plates come into contact, the surface smoothness of the plates being a limiting factor, or when the plates are so close that the corresponding zero-point radiation wavelengths no longer ''see'' a perfectly conducting surface. New research could rewrite theoretical physics by using string theory to explain everything else. Bohr's Principle of Complementarity arose out of the difficulty physicists were having in their attempts to determine whether quantum phenomena such as light are particles or waves. Now having seemingly objective “proof” of the correctness of our viewpoint, we become even more firmly entrenched and fixed in our point of view, which in a seemingly endless feedback loop then dreams up the universe to supply more evidence of the truth of what we are seeing, ad infinitum.

The central postulate of Sirag's paper is that this seven-dimensional reflection space is a universal consciousness, and that invidivual consciousnesses tap into this universal consciousness. This is completely impossible from the conventional point of view, as waves and particles are polar opposites that mutually exclude each other. Seeing the complementary nature of these apparent contradictions involves a higher form of logic known as “paralogic,” what is called “four-valued logic” [34] in Buddhism. However the essential computation in his story depended upon a very odd assumption. (Debate continues today over whether Planck actually realized how radical this assumption was and how crucial it was to his account.) The periodic table of elements is a chart of the known elements. The omission of completely filled, lower-level shells is not just a notational convenience. Werner Heisenberg, another of quantum physics founding fathers, writes, “the smallest units of matter are, in fact, not physical objects in the ordinary sense of the word, they are forms, structures, or─in Plato’s sense─Ideas.” [50] It is as if the universe is one big idea, like a collective thought-form becoming materialized into living form.
